Col Thomas Skrocki - Director

Colonel Thomas J. Skrocki is an instructor at the Air War College in the Department of International Security Studies and Director of the Air Force Culture and Language Center, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. The Air Force Culture and Language Center creates and executes language, region, and cultural learning programs for Total Force Airmen, and provides the Air Force with the subject matter expertise required to institutionalize those efforts.

 

Colonel Skrocki was commissioned in 1989 through the Air Force ROTC program at Texas A & M University. Since earning his wings in 1990, he has served in numerous operational command and staff positions at the squadron, wing and headquarters levels. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, US Pacific Command, Camp Smith, Hawaii. He is married to the former Cheryl Rheinlaender of Fort Worth, Texas and they have two daughters.

 

Colonel Skrocki is a master navigator with more than 2,900 hours in the KC-135A/R and C-130E/H.

Lt. Col Todd Butler - Chief, Region & Culture Division

Lt. Col Todd Butler is the Chief of the Air Force Culture and Language Center's Region & Culture Division. He is also the Deputy Director of the USAF Center for Unconventional Weapons Studies (CUWS) in charge of Arms Control Training and Education for the Air Force. He was previously an Assistant Professor in the International Security Studies Department, Air Command and Staff College at Air University. Selected for Graduate Studies in 2009, Todd completed a M.S. in International Affairs from the Sam Nunn School of International Relations at Georgia Tech where he was also an associate professor of aerospace studies in their AFROTC program. Lt Col Butler is a part of LEAP (Language Enabled Airman Program) being fluent in both Brazilian and European Portuguese and has been on the AU faculty since 2007. His research interests include international security policy, Latin American and Caribbean Studies (Brazil SME), and technology innovation and dispersion.
